We came to Kefalonia for 2 weeks in July this summer and spent the first 7 nights at Porto Fiscardo; in No 7, a 2-bed apartment. We had been impressed by the glowing reviews online and arrived with high expectations. We were not disappointed in the slightest. The picturesque property is immaculate inside and out and the staff work hard to keep it spotless on a daily basis. Our apartment was spacious, light and bright, with access on 3 sides and a good sized patio area. We had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. As the property is on a hillside there are a lot of steps to negotiate and you do need to keep a close eye on small children. That said, our 4 year old managed fine. The pool area and the views are great and the property is very well located just away from the main village. The staff are friendly and helpful, often remarkably so, and add to the enjoyment of your stay. Thank you Maria, Yannis and Mary.
We were also extremely impressed by the efficiency and personal nature of the service provided by Georgia, the owner. The excellent booking, pre-arrival and post- departure care we received via email was most appreciated.
Once you get there (along some pretty nerve-fraying roads) Fiscardo itself is a wonderful place to stay. If you have family, there is a lovely play area for kids just down from the main car park, boats to hire (Regina's is best value) and lovely safe, clean, pebble beaches (Emblissi is very nice). Lots of choice of good tavernas and cafes around the characterful harbour (we liked Eli's at the far end, almost on the beach).
There aren't that many places nearby to Fiscardo to visit (Assos and boat trip to Ithaca are the best) and most places will take you over an hour to drive to, so we found that a week there was ideal. We spent the second week in Lourdas (Garbis Villas) which allowed us to see the South of the island and enjoy the contrasts of the Kefalonian landscape. I would thoroughly recommend this holiday.
